Dr John has extensive experience spanning over 35 years and worked with many Australian and International organisations across several community, development and high-performance roles.
Dr John has worked with many International Cricketers, Professionals, Pathway Programs, Junior Cricket Teams and Individual Players, improving their performance through cutting-edge training backed by peer-reviewed science.
I have known John Brenton for over 30 years, first as a student at Southern Cross University, as a young cricketer in the Lismore District Association and later as a member of a branch of Lord’s Taverners Australia, which I started in Northern NSW.
John has always presented as an enthusiastic and connected man, keen to develop the skills of younger men and women with whom he was involved. A student of the human body and its reactions to training and development, John has helped me with many issues concerning the performance of athletes, including Adam.
In later years he has been an immense help in coordinating placements of young Australian cricketers, male and female, with clubs in the United Kingdom, where he spent some time as a professional cricketer, and especially in Ireland where he spent some time as a professional coach.
John has many connections, and these have proved helpful as we endeavour to provide the best opportunities to young players.
John’s application to helping athletes, especially cricketers, to achieve their best has been inspirational to me even though my coaching days are long gone.
I trust that “Dr John” will continue to affect the lives of many young and up-coming cricketers into the future as he applies the research he has completed into practical applications for their benefit.
It is a pleasure to call John my friend.

I have known John since I was 14 years old and playing cricket on the Mid North Coast of NSW. He was a skilful and passionate coach, his dedication to the youth teams of the region had a profound impact on talent development and certainly my own progression.
John’s research and work with visual perceptual training and visual anticipation is detailed and cutting edge.Personally, it challenged me in new ways and was a valuable part of my pre-season preparation. The on-line delivery of the training was a seamless integration into my routine.
Building this into development and high performance training programs is an avenue that ambitious coaches and batsmen will no doubt pursue.
Nick Larkin - NSW Blues and Melbourne Stars batsman
I have known Dr. John Brenton for well over 20 years from the time he was one one of our Specialist Coaches at the Kingsgrove Cricket Academy in Sydney.
During this time I have been lucky enough to witness his dedication to cricket through coaching and the in depth study of the game.
There are only a handful of coaches in the cricketing world that I have had the privilege of meeting who are as equally committed to the pursuit of knowledge. Since his studies I have been most impressed with his willingness to communicate and educate others about his findings. It is fascinating and ground breaking to say the least.
I now look forward to experiencing the next stage of his brilliant career and wish him continued success.
Hamish Solomons - Coaching Director Norm O'Neill Cricket Training Facility
John has been an exceptional appointment at the East Fremantle CC (EFCC).
He has demonstrated a truly unbelievable level of technical knowledge around all aspects of the game. He has an amazing gift to be able to transfer this accumulated knowledge to the playing group in a way that suits a different range of players and personalities.
John has quickly developed a real connection with our junior and emerging players of the club and has made a tremendous difference to both their personal confidence and technical approach to game day and training. John has been both innovative and engaging at both training and game day preparation aspects for our club.
He displays a very strong mentoring skill set having been involved with the game of cricket at many levels over his journey.
I would happily endorse Dr John as one of the few true professionals in the coaching space. As a person he is a resource that potentially has no boundaries regarding what can be learnt from his experience, knowledge and PHD academic studies.
Michael Carmody - Cricket Department Chair – EFCC
John has been a breath of fresh air to me in terms of combining science, cricket development and real life cricket experience and packaging this up into a cricket development program.
I can already see the massive benefits and upside to all cricketers in our circle of influence.
David Virgo - Mt Lawley DCC Head Coach
The perception session with Dr John was an experience, unlike any other batting training I’ve done.
When I was batting in games I would occasionally pick up on a cue or hint that the bowler was going to bowl a certain delivery, which would enable me to play the ball better. Despite this, training the skill never occurred as an option until Dr. John presented his concepts.
The training program he has created is both demanding, mentally and one that puts you out of your comfort zone, both of which I believe are important in any good training program. The 48 deliveries left me mentally exhausted, a feeling I’ve definitely not had from even an hour-long net session.

Dr John Brenton has been and important and influential figure in the development of junior cricketers in our district. His input in assisting players to develop a base for success and improvement has allowed them to move at a more rapid rate towards fulfilling their potential.
His analysis, player specific feedback and drills has been an essential component for not only our leading players, but also our beginners and intermediate players. A real strength of working with Dr Brenton is his ability to develop batting, bowling and fielding techniques that can flourish in all forms of the game.
Our academy recently had the leading run scorer, wicket taker and fielder for the Mid North Coast Junior Cricket Council 14yrs team at their last carnival. Dr Brenton worked closely with Samira Mitchell, being a major factor in her becoming the Leading run scorer in the just completed NSW girls Pathways 16yrs Country Championships. He provides a great set up and refinement of all skills, in a way that works for all players.”
